One of our main focuses is to get to know your neighbor.

  • Print the Neighborhood Block Map below (Click for English or Spanish) and start filling in each of your neighbors’ names who live around you. Place it on your refrigerator or someplace you see it regularly.
  • On the reverse side read many Practical Ways to Know Your Neighbors. Knowing your neighbor builds community.

2016 GreatNeighborMapMISSION AND VISION
Making Modesto Better, One Neighborhood at a Time and to Promote, Empower, Assist, Connect and Equip (P.E.A.C.E.) Modesto’s diverse neighborhoods.

  • Promote/Advocate the “neighboring movement” to law enforcement, government officials and staff, non-governmental organizations, residents of Modesto, schools, churches, and businesses.
  • Empower the gifts, abilities, talents, and assets of neighbors through leadership training, encouragement, mentoring, supporting, and cross-learning.
  • Assist neighborhoods in meeting their goals.
  • Connect with other groups and resources.
  • Equip with tools needed to be successful: volunteers, use of media and materials, running meetings, developing events and gatherings, organizing neighborhood groups, working cooperatively, delegating, and helping to make the activities sustainable.

We work in collaborative partnerships with the Modesto Police Department, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, Modesto Fire Department, City of Modesto and Stanislaus County Elected Officials and Staff, and other like-minded community groups. We offer resources and coaching to interested neighbors to form their own neighborhood groups.
